According to some Native American
traditions, dreamcatchers were hung by infants’ cribs to protect children
from nightmares. Their purpose was to allow good dreams to flow
through web and to trap bad dreams, which would then perish in the morning
light. Some tribes believed the opposite, but the basic concept is the
same. These dreamcatchers are hand-woven using bent wood or vines, and
are naturally shaped according the innate properties of the wood or vine.
Each is a unique work of love and art. No two are alike. Their
size varies from approximately 3 inches in diameter to about 15 inches.
